The Story of Mother Vasavi
The Legend of Penugonda Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Devi is the revered Kula Devatha of the Arya Vysya community. Born in the 10th century to King Kusuma Sresti and Queen Kusumamba in Penugonda (the "Kashi of Vysyas"), she was an incarnation of Adiparashakthi.When King Vishnuvardhana sought to marry her against her will and community traditions, Mother Vasavi chose the path of non-violence. To protect the honor of women and the integrity of her people, she, along with the heads of 102 Gothras, entered the sacred fire (Agni Pravesham). Her sacrifice serves as a timeless reminder that character and righteousness are more precious than life itself.Key Principles :Dharmam (Duty/Righteousness): Living a life of purpose and ethics.
